The only that stresses me out more than grocery shopping is packing. I gaze into the depths of my closet and groan every time I have to get a bag ready. Conference dressing has the added pressure of networking events and presentations on top of it all.
In order to get a grip on what I needed I glanced at the schedule and broke each day into events. This made it much easier to visualize what I wanted to look like and what was appropriate for each setting.
My list might not be appropriate for everyone, I work in higher ed and our conferences tend to skew toward the informal side. Here's what I'm bringing based on the different events on the schedule. Check out this previous post to see a list of my Travel Survival Kit.
Comfort is always at the forefront when I'm traveling. Try some faux leather leggings, a cashmere sweater and some clean white sneakers to step up your airport style.
Day One: Keynote & Networking Event
These events tend to take place the night after a day of travel and can be quite informal at higher ed conferences. A blouse, slim cut pants, and booties are comfortable for both sitting and mingling.
Day Two: Presenting & Attending Sessions
I like to dress up a little bit on the days that I present at a conference. Wearing a dress and heels makes me feel more confident and polished. These Nine West heels are under 4 inches and are easy to walk and stand in while not looking frumpy.
