The Minnesota Margarita

cucumber ginger margarita | designlovefest

The temps have started dropping here in Minnesota and I've been eager to hold into the last bits of summer. One way that I'm doing that is by experimenting with margarita recipes. Dan hates tequila (one too many bad college parties) so I've been on a mission to find the perfect Minnesota alternative and I think I've found it in Aquavit. Here's my easy to remember 3-2-1 recipe!

Loosely stacked ice cubes
3oz of aquavit (Gamle Ode)
2oz of sweetened lime juice
1oz orange liquer (Cointreau)

  1. Huh! Well, that's interesting! I've never heard of aquavit, that I had to look it up on google lol. I love margarita's, but I really love tequila too. But, aquavit seems like a great substitute to those who've had bad experiences with tequila lol!

  2. This sounds pretty good - I've had aquavit once before, but I can't quite remember the taste.

    1. The flavors that jump out at my with aquavit are citrusy and a little herbal. Makes the margarita transition into a fall drink nicely. =)
